Connectivity of West Bengal

By Air

West Bengal is well connected by all three modes of transport i.e. air, rail and road. The only international airport of the state is located in Kolkata, the capital city. There is another domestic airport at Bagdogra near Siliguri in the northern Bengal.

Both these airports are served by all major public and private airlines and are linked with important cities in the country and abroad. The important destinations in West Bengal can be easily approached from Kolkata.

By Rail

West Bengal has a very wide network of rails connected to almost all parts of the state. Howrah and Sealdah near Kolkata and New Jalpaiguri near Siliguri and Kharagpur are the important railheads, serving trains to several destinations in the country. There are numerous other railheads served by important trains from all over the country and also help in intra-state transportation. For more information, click here

Interstate road transportation provides easy access within the state also to neighboring states.

The West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC) runs buses between important destinations. One can travel to the neighboring countries like Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh on road by bus.
