West Bengal is well connected by all three modes of transport i.e. air, rail and road. The only international airport of the state is located in Kolkata, the capital city. There is another domestic airport at Bagdogra near Siliguri in the northern Bengal.
Both
these airports are served by all major public and private airlines and
are linked with important cities in the country and abroad. The
important destinations in West Bengal can be easily approached from Kolkata.
By RailWest Bengal has a very wide network of rails connected to almost all parts
of the state. Howrah and Sealdah near Kolkata and New Jalpaiguri near
Siliguri and Kharagpur are the important railheads, serving trains to several destinations in the country. There are numerous other railheads served by important trains from all over the country and also help in intra-state transportation. For more information,

well maintained network of state and national highways connect all
important towns and cities within the state and also to the neighboring
states of Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam, Sikkim and Meghalaya.
Interstate road transportation provides easy access within the state
also to neighboring states.
The West Bengal Surface Transport
Corporation (WBSTC) runs buses between important destinations. One can
travel to the neighboring countries like Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh on
road by bus.
